Offensive line gives Kirby time in 28 - 7 win over Vidor

The Bulldogs fired all cylinders from the get go as Trahan knocked the kickoff deep in the endzone and defensive came out and made a statement making Vidor go 3 and out. With Kirby (17 /238), Asa (1/33) in the air means there was an intense battle on the front line. The offensive line has to be one of the toughest positions on the field. Your back is to the quarterback, some big head hunter in front of you, a linebacker shooting through the gap, and to top that off your not real sure where your quarterback really is. Which means you literally are in the fight of your life every play protecting someone who may or may not be behind you anymore. According to my notes Kirby was only really rushed to pass twice during the game and the only time he was tackled was when he was intended to keep it. To make a long story short, tell an offensive lineman thank you next time you see one.

Defense made another stellar performance. Vidor ran hard, ran fast, and ran many with mis-direction after mis-direction then trap, sweep, and a QB keep all 5 plays ran left then right then left again. Just kidding but that is what it felt like to me. Sometimes looking through the camera was hard to tell just exactly who had the ball but luckily for Nederland I am not doing the tackling. Defensive line stood tall again and made things happen. High Five to Stewart for coming out and not only scrapping with Vidor's O-line but fighting through a nagging injury and still causing chaos for Vidor.

Big time stops by Nederland linebackers and secondary again this week by Lovelady, Grogan, Gutierrez, Stanley, Landry, Krautz, Swain, and Pina.

The play of the game of course was the Backward pass from Bellow to Asa then Asa to a wide open on the run pass to Stanley for a 66 yard Touchdown and the final TD of the game.

Scoring summary:

Pass Bellow to Asa Cardenas 39 yards: Vidrine PAT

Bellow keeper 8 yards: Vidrine PAT

Pass Bellow to Asa Cardenas 35 yards: Vidrine PAT

Backward pass Bellow to Asa Cardenas - Pass Cardenas to Stanley 33 yards: Vidrine PAT
