Dog's season ends with loss to Lumberton. The Bulldogs will be off this playoff season and it is the first time since I started Bigned.com (1998). I have to admit, The dogs did better then I first expected, but during the Brenham game everything changed and in the first three quarters of that game I had realized that I underestimated the dogs as Ryan Sampere had the game of his life. I hate to think that he was only three inches from being out of bounds when his life changed. That change will ring in Sophomore Kirby Bellow's head for years to come. Kirby stepped in on Samphere's departure and turned what should have been a training season into a successful district run. Kirby had help though, Seniors Reagan Stanley and Adam Broussard were open targets all year long, making life a little easier for Kirby. I was looking forward to watching Cameron Bass and Bryce Breaux juke and scoot but when you send 4 out, someone has to block and that is where they became great team players. The Bulldog defense was of course led by Senior Dravannti Johnson (UT commitment) but I feel like Senior Jeremy Stewart, Senior Cole Howerton, Senior Chris Gutierrez had a great senior year. With 21 of the 38 players on Varsity being underclassman, I feel like we picked up some experience. The Dogs have some big shoes to fill but on the same token have more starters returning next year then what we have had in the past. Scoring summary: Pass Bellow to Asa Cardenas 19 yards: PAT Trahan 7 Mark Strayhorn |
