Nederland In Close Battle for Playoffs

Nederland played host to a winless Ozen squad at Bulldog Stadium Friday Night. No surprise here as Mosley was able to scamper up and down the field, racking up 254 all purpose yards and two touchdowns. Moshier played a great game as well completing 8-of-16 for 176 yards and 3 touchdowns on the way to a 35-16 victory over the Panthers. Nederland improves to 2-2 in District 22-4A as they prepare to take on LC-M (2-2) next week in a game that for all intents and purposes, decides Nederland's post season fate. Early predictions give the top two playoff spots to Dayton (4-0) and Central (4-0). This makes the race for the third spot that much more interesting. All things considered, next week's game at LC-M will prove to be the most important game of this season for the Bears and the Bulldogs.

The race has thinned down to the Mid-County Teams and LC-M, all with two losses. Vidor and Lumberton have quickly fallen out of the running, at least for now. LC-M showed a great performance against PN-G a couple of weeks ago, but then traveled to Dayton and got shutout on Friday. Unpredictable teams are always a scary thing for coaches and players. For LC-M to win on Friday, they will have to stop Micah Mosley and control the clock. The passing game will be key for the Bears, in order to expose the lack of skill in the Nederland secondary. Nederland will be looking to get the ball into the hands of.... you guessed it, Micah Mosley. With over 1300 yards this season, Mosley continues to be Neumann's bread-and-butter star. Recent developments have proved that Nederland can also throw the ball too, this will improve the Nederland offense tremendously, opening up the field for more potential.

Nederland's defense, which fell into a slump against Vidor and Central, has seen drastic improvement. The Bulldogs' still have some work to do in the secondary, but developments against Ozen show some promising results. The Bears' main offensive weapon is receiver Josh Thomas. Nederland will need to force LC-M to throw the ball into coverage and come away with some turnovers. Limiting Thomas's productivity will be a key factor in the defensive scheme for the Nederland Bulldogs as they prepare to battle it out for a shot at playoffs.
