Nederland Pounds Forest Brook 44-6

After a tough loss in week zero, Nederland rebounded in a blowout against Forest Brook at Bulldog Stadium Friday Night. Mosley dominated the running game with 26 carries for an astounding 284 yards and 4 touchdowns. The passing game also seemed very improved from just one week ago.

Nederland dominated on both sides of the ball by amassing 547 yards of total offense and taking a 31-0 shutout lead into halftime.  Moshier was able to connect on 11-of-20 pass attempts including a 25-yard touchdown pass to Mosley. The Dogs’ finished its romping with a 71 yard run by Mosley in the third quarter.

One week ago, Nederland fans had every reason to have faith in this year’s squad. La Marque escaped a 28-20 threat from a very determined Nederland team. The coaching staff deserves huge credit for Nederland’s preparation for the Forest Brook game. Elements that were not clicking last week were improved greatly. Nederland, however still faces some trouble that will need to be sorted through.

The kicking game is probably the biggest threat to the success of Nederland this year. The Bulldogs could face some trouble in the playoffs without a solid kicking game. The offense will have to be depended on to create point spreads large enough to counterbalance the threat of games counting strictly on special teams’ abilities. Another concern that still lingers is the lack of depth. Nederland will need to remain healthy in order to boost its ability on the field. Depth will come as the season progresses as second and third string players get some playing time.

This Friday night, Nederland travels to Waller to battle it out in Week 2. Directions to Waller stadium are posted on the main page. Come out and support the Bulldogs Friday night.
