Nederland Comes Back Strong in 41-0 Shutout
From the kickoff it was all Nederland. Lumberton was unable to prove anything against Nederland Tuesday night. And as redundant as I am sounding right now, redundancy was even more apparent during the game. Mosley looked solid running up the middle and getting huge gains, carrying the ball 22 times and attaining 107 yards on the ground. After Mosley’s first touchdown on the opening drive, Lumberton came out on offense putting together somewhat of a drive until the defense was able to shut it down forcing Lumberton to punt on fourth down. Arguably the most athletic player in 20-4A, Ryan Butler, showed his talents on the pursuing punt return. Butler accelerated through and dodged Lumberton defenders on a 48-yard punt return for a touchdown putting the dogs up 14-0 in the first quarter. Mosley and Butler weren't the only players to add stats to their touchdowns column. Defensive tackle Ron Mohica was put in on a goal line play to crush the Lumberton defensive line on a 1-yard touchdown run. Neumann made it a point after the game to state that he wanted his players to be serious, but to have fun the remainder of the season. Nederland now has some time to regroup and focus on LC-M, a game that will take place Saturday, November 5th at LC-M. The playoff situation is starting to thin down, especially after Vidor’s loss this week. To avoid a coin toss lottery, PN-G must lose, forcing them out of the playoff picture. If no upsets occur and PN-G loses, Ozen, Central, and Nederland would be heading to the playoffs. Brandon Corley |
